Sightseeing

Richmond offers so much to see and do. Explore the waterfront boardwalks at the picturesque Historic Fishing Village of Steveston, with two National Historic Sites, sandy beaches, parks, shops and restaurants or discover the multiculturalism in action as you drive down the "Highway of Heaven" and see the different religious institutions and schools that reside on this three-kilometre stretch of road. Also, visit the Golden Village, bursting with Asian food, culture and shopping.

Historic Attractions

Steveston is the ideal place to explore the maritime fishing roots in BC. Visit the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site, the largest commercial fishing port in Canada since it was built in 1894. The nearby Britannia Heritage Shipyard is another National Historic Site which displays restored heritage boatworks, bunkhouses, and homes that show how locals lived and worked in the early 20th century. Then, visit London Heritage Farm to enjoy a Full tea service and discover the farmhouse life in Richmond during the 1880s.

Religious Attractions

Richmond is well-known for its spectacular representation of the different faiths that reside in the Temples, Mosques, Churches, and Chapels along No. 5 Road, aka "Highway of Heaven." The Highway to Heaven was chosen as one of 52 finalists in the Seven Wonders of Canada as a place where different belief temples co-exist side-by-side. Discover the huge golden Buddha statues and incense-scented atmosphere of the International Buddhist Temple to the mystical chanting of the Tibetan monks at Thrangu Monastery.
