Eligibility
The contest is open to travel writers, editors, and independent journalists who produce written content for print or online media publications. These include magazines, newspapers, websites and blogs. Video and radio clips are inadmissable as are advertorials.
Multiple byliners are accepted, in teh event that an article with more than one author wins, the $1,000 prize money will be split evenly.
Applicatns must be a legal resident of the 50 United States/O.C. or Canada and of the age of majority to enter. Void in Quebec and where prohibited by law.
The chances of winning will depend on the number of entries received. No purchase required for entry.
Rules
All participants should take note of the guidelines below. Failure to do so could result in disqualification.
1. Entries in both categories should focus solely upon the City of Richmond, British Columbia, Canada and deal with travel, lifesytyle, culinary or the business of tourism.
2. This contest is only open to travel writers from the U.S. and Canada. Please do not enter if you are not located in the U.S. or Canada.
3. Only articles written in English or French will be considered.
4. Entries must be published between April 1, 2011 and March 31, 2012. Previously published work will not be considered.
5. Applicants must indicate which category they wish to be considered for.
6. There is no set word count. However, in-depth feature pieces are more likely to impress over brief write-ups.
7. All entries must be the original work of the applicant.
8. Up to two entries per person, per category.
9. The contest publish deadline is March 31, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. All entries must be published by this date.
10. All articles should be submitted by June 1, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. along with the attached and completed entry form to:

11. Articles, along with the entry form, can be submitted either as links, pdf documents, or original tear sheets. Please note no entries will be returned.
12. Employees of Tourism Richmond, and its affiliates, marketing partners, suppliers, advertising or promotional agencies, and the immediate family members (mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter, spouse) of, or persons residing in the same household as any such person, are not eligible.
